We feel that each child should be given the opportunity to explore a variety of movement skills in a safe and positive learning environment. We recognize that all children are individuals and learn in different ways, therefore activities and lessons are individualized and personalized to give each child a chance to develop to his/her greatest potential.

Basic units of activity will include gymnastics to develp total body awareness, strength and coordination in addition to introducing basic gymnastics skills, safety falls and equipment orientation. We also include some ball handling skills in our preschool program. The purpose is to develop eye/hand and eye/foot coordination and visual tracking.

We measure performance in gymnastics by breaking skills down into achievable steps. It is the accomplishment of these lead-up skills that help children experience success early and often, makeing them feel like winners. Please view our skill program for school-age children by clicking on the link below.

 Class Description:

Tiny Stars (1-3 years): This parent participation class is 30 minutes long and purchased by a punch card. Class is mostly child directed with coach assistance in our fully padded preschool gym. A wide variety of movements and activities are explored.

Munchkids (2-3 years): This is a parent participation class that offers a bit more structure. Activities build on the fundamental movements explored in Tiny Stars. Lessons are 40 minutes long and are more teacher directed, although the children do share in the decision making about activities.

Little Stars (Boys & Girls 3-4 years): Children work only with a teacher in this 40 minute class. This group of children work on developing general and specific skills using various movement concepts. We focus on developing listening skills and following directions (more than one at a time.) The maximum student/teacher ratio is 6:1.

Junior Stars (Boys & Girls 4-5 years): This class is the next developmental step from Little Stars. The student/teacher ratio is 8:1 as this group of children are capable of more detailed work as attention spans grow longer. Class length is 40 minutes.

Shooting Stars (Girls 4-5 years): This class is a gymnastics preparation class. Basic gymnastics skills are taught. PSGD selects the children for this class based on interest, ability and willingness to work. Class length is 1 hour and the student/teacher ratio is 8:1

The difference between these two classes is age - Mini Nova is designed just for the younger school age student. Lessons are based on our proven Skill Program that breaks skills down into achievable parts.  Each student is given a colored belt to be worn to each class. A star is sewn on the belt to signify the skill level they are working on. Each student is rewarded with another star everytime a skill level is passed. Classes are 1 hour and the student teacher ratio is 8:1
